Homework Answers
Homework Answers When you assign more than these levels, the law of diminishing returns or even negative effects â" stress especially â" begin to appear. And probably a driving force behind that is obviously end-of-grade testing and accountability issues. Perhaps more legitimately is the importance of early reading. So 20-minutes for a second grader is where youâd start. In middle schools, itâs between mins for 6th through 9th graders, about two hours later in high school. But at a particular point more homework is not a good thing. Youâve heard of the â10-Minute Rule,â where you multiply a childâs grade by 10 to determine how many minutes you assign per night. Next what you need to do is, as soon as you get the assignment, review what needs to be done for five minutes when the period gets over. I know suppressing the urge to have fun with your friends in those little breaks is not easy. But you gotta decide for yourself, whether you want to have fun later in the day, after completing the homework quickly or you want to have fun now. I know itâs really tough for some students, but youâll have to learn it at some point in your life, one way or the other. The student may feel the homework is boring and tedious. Assign too much or the wrong kind and the law of diminishing returns kicks in, saysDr. Harris Cooper, professor of psychology and neuroscience at Duke University, resulting in undue stress for students, aggravation for parents and no academic pay-off. Thanks for taking time for sharing this article, it was excellent and very informative. I found a lot of informative stuff in your article. Someday, when my views on homework collide with the mainstream school systemâs views on it, tough decisions will need to be made. I reached out to them the first week of school to politely tell them my daughter would only be doing as much homework as would feasibly fit into our lives. I asked them to contact me if she was struggling in any areas so that I could shift our focus onto those subjects and I asked them if they had any questions for me. The homework assigned to the student is very lengthy for the studentâs working speed. The teachers and professors do not see it this way. So if you are distracted by the slightest of sounds in a usually quiet atmosphere, music can drown out any spontaneous interruptions. It also has a powerful effect on your mood and recall. When you select the right song to play while studying, writing a paper or posting in the discussion board, the tune can trigger your memory. So far, weâve been lucky to have teachers willing to work with me. That being said, itâd be unrealistic to assume a âpartial-homeworkâ policy will be the norm forever. In this way you can ask for help if you get stuck somewhere, and vice versa. While coming back home from the school, start your homework early in the bus. Share this idea with some of your friends, and tell them how much fun you all can have if you all complete the homework fast. Most of them think that doing homework is good for the studentâs grades. They just want the homework to be completed, no matter what.
